Nicki Harrison
Director, Sustainable Finance
Work
Areas of expertise:
Sustainable finance, financial policy and regulation
Description
Nicki directs Environmental Defense Fund Europe’s Sustainable Finance team, where she works with the finance sector to help accelerate the net zero transition. Nicki and her team seek to understand the barriers to mobilising financial flows in EDF’s sectors of experts (transport, energy transition and agriculture) and to work on solutions for overcoming those barriers. They do this through carrying out research and analysis and holding convenings with financial institutions, corporates and policymakers. Nicki and her team also advocate for policy in the EU and the UK that can help mobilise financial flows towards the transition.
Nicki is a member of the Science Based Targets Initiative’s (SBTi) Expert Advisory Group for the Financial Institutions Net Zero standard.
Background
Prior to joining Environmental Defense Fund, Nicki spent 15 years at the Bank of England, the UK’s central bank, leading prudential supervision teams supervising many of the major UK banks. She was also responsible for embedding the Bank of England’s work on climate change within the UK banking sector.
