Description
John Tauzel is the senior director for Global Agriculture Methane at EDF. He facilitates EDF’s work to focus attention on the critical climate issue of agriculture methane, to spur development of innovative solutions to cut on-farm methane emissions, and to find pathways to support farmers in adopting new technologies and practices.
Bringing experience in environmental policy, agribusiness, entrepreneurship and the commercialization of livestock health solutions to the role, John is passionate about helping farmers improve the economic and environmental sustainability of their farms to deliver global food security. He believes strongly in the power of co-created solutions to fight climate change.
Background
John Tauzel joined EDF in April 2022. Previously he served at Dairy One, a farmer services cooperative providing laboratory services and data management for farmers, working extensively with the largest dairy companies in the U.S., facilitating the development of new precision agriculture tools and mentoring ag tech startups.
Earlier in his career, John served as CEO of an animal health startup focused on dairy cattle reproduction. For seven years, he worked at the New York Farm Bureau, focusing on agriculture and the environment, and successfully leading advocacy efforts for public support of on-farm renewable energy and efficiency projects. He also has experience working in agribusiness innovation and entrepreneurship in India.
John continues to serve as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Cornell University, focusing on supporting ag tech companies. He often spends weekends on his family’s beef and crop farm in upstate New York.
