National Climate Assessment Shows Toll of Climate Change on Every Region of U.S.
Statement by Derek Walker, Vice President of EDF's U.S. Region
“The Fifth National Climate Assessment was released today, and it once again makes clear that climate change is exacting a toll in every region of the U.S., often in vastly different ways that require tailored solutions as varied as they are vital. The decisions we make now can strengthen communities, grow more family-supporting jobs in a cleaner, healthier economy and ensure justice and equity for the people most harmed by climate change.
“This is a moment of profound opportunity and urgency. With the report's clear-eyed descriptions of the risks we face, President Biden is showing his commitment to confronting this crisis today by announcing major investments in strengthening our aging electric grid infrastructure, reducing flood risk, advancing environmental justice and delivering real economic benefits where they are needed most.”
